The Cuckoos Nest Guest House is so called because of the beautiful cuckoo birds that frequent the area. There are seven which are endemic to the area (not all seen) especially the Red Chested Cuckoo, (Piet my Vrou) which can be heard calling at all hours in the summer months. The cuckoo never builds its own nest, but lays its eggs in other birds nests, so that the nest owner can look after the fledgling. Come stay with us, we will look after you.
Cuckoos Nest Guest House is set on an eight-hectare plot of which two hectares is beautiful garden, the balance of which consists of a bush camp which is home to six nyala.
A section of the large grounds contains an orchard of macadamia nut trees, which give off a wonderful aroma, when flowering from August to September.
The house has six, spacious en-suite bedrooms, which each have panoramic views of the beautiful Soutpansberg mountains.
Enjoy a walk in the tranquil gardens and view the feeding of the Nyala at sunset, or spot any of the numerous birds which frequent the many trees of the region.
